Trash.lab is an entity created by a man named Alex "Spud" Klingbeil.

Spud was born in Hinton, Alberta, Growing up in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta; where his love of nature and its constant battle with human interference was developed. His interest in the cycle of life where everything in the end gets taken back to nature is what fuels most of his work.

Philosophical ideas, current world conditions, the individual’s experience, and graphic novels largely influence my artistic practice. Concepts such as these are expressed through androgynous cartoon figures on ceramic vessels. The vessel’s proposed purpose is determined by the concept that is behind the piece. In essence, both the figures depiction and the vessel function are derived by the idea that fuels it.
An exact motivation is very difficult to articulate and even realize, although, the over-arching motivation for the work is to suggest social and philosophical issues that are routinely overlooked. I am trying to suggest through ceramics and loosely scrawled illustrations social issues or philosophical concepts that exist in the everyday day human condition.
When analyzed you can see the issues present, but they are easily overlooked.
