Trash.Talk: Smoke Eaters

When I began listening to this album, the first song ” Dogs” basically made me feel like I was having a stroke, this particular song made me want to cry at how droning it was, haven’t felt much like that since I drank too much and passed out on the front lawn.

It is only appropriate that the next songs seem to be the soundtrack for the morning after once I drag myself off the front lawn and proceeded to have the worst hangover ever while later working in my job in retail; and if we know anything about retail… it really sucks. Unlike my hangover the album was short lived and I only had to tolerate it for a short period of time.

The droning garbage pop created by Smoke Eaters is a very intriguing display of post-grunge attitude.

Real Talk:

Smoke Eaters is a fun drone-pop band that shares a spot in my heart, they share a similar sound to the likes of “Islands” and “the Unicorns” which I love greatly.  The charm of their album and the subject matter within it makes me want to pick up a long board on an overcast day and cruise to a 7-Eleven to grab a Slurpee. The joyful mundane feeling associated with this album is one worth exploring.

The album is well recorded, the riffs are simple, the beat approachable, the voices enjoyable. Sadly the songs are short but I feel as though they are an acceptable length.

Special thanks to Misha Oreshkov for the idea for Trash.Talk and allowing me to roast this Album.
